Klawervlei bred colt lands prestigious Australian feature
One of the top 2yo colts currently racing in Australia has ties to one of the Western Cape’s top stud farms.
Time For War, who won Saturday’s Gr2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes at Doomben, counts Klawervlei Stud as a part breeder.
A top-class colt, Time For War’s victory in the recent Sires Produce pushed his tally to three wins from five outings and he has already won over AUS $365,0000 in prize money.
The colt had previously won the Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes back in March and clearly ranks as one of Australia’s better 2yo colts this season.
He may run next in the Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes before being aimed at the Gr1 Golden Rose next season.
Time For War was bred by Klawervlei in partnership with Arrowfield Stud – who stand Time For War’s sire, Snitzel.
One of Australia’s most promising young sires, Snitzel is currently Australia’s second leading sire by prize money. The Grade One winning son of Redoute’s Choice has been represented by no fewer than 13 stakes winners during the 2013-2014, including Gr1 Cox Plate hero, Shamus Award.
Time For War is out of the Zabeel mare Lady Zabelia, who won three times in South Africa before being exported to Australia. She is very closely related to Australian Horse of the Year, Might And Power – both are by champion sire Zabeel, and Might And Power was produced by former New Zealand Broodmare Of The Year, Benediction (the third dam of Lady Zabelia).
Lady Zabelia has a filly foal by Smart Missile, and was covered last year by Animal Kingdom.
