16th juvenile winner of the season for Querari

28th Jul 2017

Maine Chance Farms’ sensational young sire Querari was represented by a pair of winners at the Vaal on Thursday, with the Querari double including his 16th 2yo winner of the 2016-2017 racing season.

Querari Falcon

Oasis Dream’s G1 winning son, and half-brother to new Klipdrif sire Quasillo, is the sire of the highly rated La Collosa, who romped home to a two and a quarter length win over 1200m for trainer Gavin Van Zyl and owner-breeders Maine Chance Farms.

Fourth on debut, La Collosa could hardly have been more impressive and she looks one to follow.

She joins the likes of Listed Dahlia Plate winner Joking, G1 SA Nursery third Wonderwall and G3 Strelitzia Stakes second Made In Hollywood as exciting two-year-olds representing Querari this season.

More juvenile success could be on the line for Querari this weekend, with the sire being represented in the G3 The Sunlife Vitamins Debutante (Spring Breeze), G1 Premiers Champion Stakes (Monks Hood) and G3 Avontuur Umkhomazi Stakes (Procal Harum).

Kangaroo Jack

Querari’s second winner on Thursday came when his Listed Bauhinia Handicap runner up Spring Wonder picked up her third career win when successful over 1200 metres. Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Spring Wonder was one of seven stakes horses to have emerged from Querari’s first crop, and Thursday’s win pushed her earnings to over R280 000.

A proven high class sire, whose best offspring also including the G1 winning two-year-old Querari Falcon, Querari will be represented by six lots (including a full-sister to La Collosa) at August’s National Two Year Old Sale.
