27th stakes winner for Canford Cliffs

10th Feb 2025

Ridgemont’s inform stallion Canford Cliffs came up with his 27th black type winner when his son Action Zone won the Listed Ipi Tombe Stakes (1600m) at Borrowdale on Sunday.
In the process, the Thomas Mason-trained five-year-old made it four wins from his last five starts.
Bred by Daytona Stud, Action Zone is out of the Judpot mare Private Dancer.
The uber-consistent gelding has won nine of 22 starts, with Action Zone failing to find a place just three times.
His five-time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs looks to have another smart performer to his name, Tenango.
The latter made it back-to-back wins with a fluent performance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Under Aldo Domeyer, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained four-year-old stormed home to claim the Hollywoodbets Bright Future Class 3 (1200m) by a convincing two lengths.
Bred and owned by Ian Longmore, Tenango, who has won three of his last four starts, is out of the Trippi mare Tripadvisor. Feature races appear to be on the card for the progressive Tenango.
Star miler Canford Cliffs has two lots on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale, and a single lot on the Premier Yearling Sale.
