Mauritzfontein’s high-class sire Ideal World came up with his 33rd stakes winner on Friday, when his daughter Lotus Island won the Listed East Cape Oaks (2000m) at Fairview.
Trained by Alan Greeff, the progressive three-year-old made it four wins in a row with her victory in Friday’s R150 000 contest.
Under Richard Fourie, Lotus Island stayed on gamely to claim her biggest win to date by a head.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Lotus Island, a winner of four of nine starts, is unbeaten since relocating to the Eastern Cape.
Friday’s winner is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Glenshee.
Lotus Island is one of several high-class three-year-olds for her sire Ideal World this season, with others including G2 TAB Gauteng Guineas winner Parisian Walkway, the smart filly Ancient Wisdom and Mocha Blend, a winner of two of just three starts.
A son of Kingmambo and champion Banks Hill, Ideal World is also responsible for Equus Champions Rainbow Bridge, Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo.
