This time it was the Moutonshoek bred Emerald Jaguar who made a winning debut, with the three-year-old gelding winning by half a length over1160m, at the expense of the Australian bred Humble Addict.

Trained by Paul Peter, Emerald Jaguar is one of 24 winners to have emerged from Gimmethegreenlight’s second crop of foals, now three. Others include G2 SA Fillies Nursery winner Green Plains, G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship third Rose In Bloom and East Cape champion Queen Forever.

Gimmethegreenlight, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2015-2016, shares his sire More Than Ready with Breeders’ Cup contenders Rushing Fall, Catholic Boy and Roy H, with the latter having captured the G1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes last time out.

The former L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner will himself be represented in a number of feature races at Turffontein this Saturday.

His 3yos Surcharge, Cash Time and Virga run in the R2.5 million Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup, while Gimmethegreenlight fillies Green Top and Witch Of The West contest the G3 Princess Charlene Starling Stakes.
