Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi, sire of this season’s impressive and unbeaten 3yo Broadway Trip, looks to have another really nice thre-year-old to his credit in the form of Mawsoof.

The latter, a 4.75 length winner on debut, made it two wins from as many outings when bolting home to score by for trainer Mike de Kock and owner-breeder Al Adaayit South Africa.
Mawsoof, whose close relative Hafla runs at Turffontein on Saturday, has now won his only two outings, both over 1000 metres, by a gross margin of 7.5 lengths and he looks a good colt in the making.
He is one of a number of promising three-year-olds representing Trippi this season, with Broadway Trip having earned more than R750 000 from his three starts this season. Another smart sophomore for the former champion sire is recent G3 Cape Classic third Cot Campbell, while his 3yo daughter, and debut winner, Flowersfromabrook, is a runner in Saturday’s G3 Princess Charlene Starling Stakes this weekend.

The sire of 67 stakes winners, and counting, Trippi has also made his presence felt as a broodmare sire this year, with his daughters responsible for, among others, G2 Raven Stakes winner Miss Sunset and Funny Cide Stakes winner Aveenu Malcainu.
