Smart Call, a daughter of Mauritzfontein’s in-form sire Ideal World, has been cross-entered in some of the world’s biggest horse-races.
Equus Champion Middle Distance Horse and Older Filly/Mare in 2015-2016, the Mauritzfontein bred and owned Smart Call holds entries in all of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (a race won by her granddam Banks Hill in 2001), G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf, G1 Hong Kong Cup and G1 Hong Kong Vase.
Winner of seven of her 16 outings in South Africa –including the G1 J&B Met, G1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes and G1 Woolavington 2000, Smart Call was a close, beaten 1.5 lengths, in the G1 Prix Jean Romanet two starts ago, and also ran subsequent G1 E P Taylor Stakes winner Blond Me to a length and a half when third in the G2 Betfred Middleton Stakes earlier in the year.
Her sire Ideal World has made a bright start to the 2017-2018 racing season, with winners coming thick and fast for the son of Kingmambo.
Ideal World, whose sons Hermoso Mundo and Irish Pride both line up in the G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile on Saturday week, is represented by a number of promising 3yos this season, including East Cape champion Kimberley Star and Zen Arcade, a winner of two of his three starts to date.
Ideal World has five lots on offer at the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale.
