Black impresses for Twice Over

14th Sep 2017

Klawervlei Stud’s red hot young sire, and European Champion, Twice Over was back in the news at Kenilworth on Wednesday afternoon when represented by yet another smart looking debut winner.

Twice Over

The stallion’s first crop daughter Double Black made an eye catching winning debut when victorious over 1200 metres for the Kieswetters, who own Double Black in partnership with the filly’s breeders, Ridgemont Racing.

The filly from the red-hot yard of trainer Candice Bass-Robinson, overcame considerable greenness to win by a length over well supported first-timer Star Of London on Wednesday and in the process stamped herself as another bright prospect for her four time G1 winning sire Twice Over.

The latter has made a superb start to his stud career, with Twice Over’s first runners also including Cape Champion and G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Sand And Sea, as well the unbeaten Do It Again.

Victorious over subsequent winner Hemingway first time out, Do It Again made it two wins from as many outings when scoring over a mile on Saturday for trainer Justin Snaith and he looks destined for bigger and better things.

Another son of Twice Over to catch the eye at Kenilworth on Wednesday was Doublemint, who, despite being slow away,  ran on smartly to finish fourth over 1000m for Justin Snaith.

Multiple champion Twice Over, whose relatives include current G1 performers American Anthem, Antonoe and Time Test, won 12 times and earned over £2 000 000 during a career which saw him win the G1 Champion Stakes twice, as well as both the G1 Coral-Eclipse and G1 Juddmonte International for legendary trainer Henry Cecil.

He is fully booked this season.
