Moutonshoek’s superbly bred G1 winning young stallion The United States gained a further boost to his impeccable pedigree at Galway on Tuesday.
His two-year-old full sister Hermosa won, at just the second time of asking, when scoring a one length win over seven furlongs as the hot 11-8 favourite.
The blue blooded Hermosa, who holds entries in both this season’s G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and G2 Debutante Stakes, had been fourth on debut and she looks a progressive sort.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Hermosa was steered to victory by the trainer’s son Donnacha. The latter commented after Tuesday’s win, “”She’s improving away, but she’s still a bit backward. Once I got a crack into her she picked up well. It was a good performance. She was green the first day and she was still a bit green today. For an inexperienced two-year-old this is a tough track, but once she got in the clear in the straight she was good.”
Hermosa is one of at least winners produced by the G3 Prix d’Arenberg winning Beauty Is Truth, a daughter of outstanding sire and broodmare sire Pivotal.
She is a full-sister to a pair of G1 winners in the form of Hydrangea (G1 Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes, G1 Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes) and exciting young Cape stallion The United States (G1 Ranvet Stakes) respectively.
Beauty Is Truth’s second dam Zelda is a half-sister to G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner and champion sire Last Tycoon.
The United States, who banked more than AUS$2 million in stakes, is a son of the world’s premier sire Galileo, whose leading stallion sons include such as Teofilo, New Approach (sire of the 2018 Investec Derby winner Masar), Frankel, Nathaniel, Intello and the very exciting Australia. The latter had a G3 winner emerge from his first crop of 2yos when Beyond Reason won the G3 Prix Six Perfections at Deauville on Saturday.
