British success for Gitano Hernando brother

24th Aug 2017

Velvet Revolution, a Pivotal half-brother to The Alchemy’s well performed stallion Gitano Hernando, picked up his third career victory when successful at Kempton Park on Wednesday evening.

Gitano Hernando

The four-year-old, who, like his brother, is trained Marco Botti, ran on smartly, under the urgings of jockey Martin Harley, to score an off the pace victory in the 32Red.com Handicap yesterday evening.

Velvet Revolution, who has scored all his victories after being gelded, is out of the top class racemare Gino’s Spirits, whose nine career victories (stakes wins) included the G3 Noble Damsel Handicap and John Musker Stakes.

Not only is Gino’s Spirits the dam of Gitano Hernando and the above mentioned Velvet Revolution, but her son Battersea is a likely runner in Saturday’s Betfred Ebor Handicap (one of Britain’s most historic and prestigious handicap races) at York.

Gitano Hernando, who is from the same male line as South Africa’s reigning champion sire Silvano, was a superb athlete who earned more than $2 million in a career which saw him win both the G1 Goodwood Stakes and G1 Singapore Cup.

His first runners include Oaks winner Whose That Girl and Grand Heritage entrant Brave Nomad.
