Klawervlei Stud’s exciting Jet Master horse Pomodoro enjoyed yet more big race success this weekend, when his Klawervlei Stud bred daughter Golden Belle scored an impressive win in the G2 World Sports Betting Camellia Stakes (1160m) at Turffontein on Saturday.
An R80 000 buy from the 2018 Klawervlei Farm Sale, three-year-old Golden Belle showed her class when she romped home to a facile four and a quarter length win in Saturday’s race for trainer Sean Tarry and apprentice Luke Ferraris.
The lightly raced filly, a member of Pomodoro’s second crop, has now won three of just six starts, with Golden Belle winning her first two starts in smart fashion.
Golden Belle is one of six black type horses to have emerged from Pomodoro’s second crop, with this crop also producing Secretariat Stakes winner Leopold and G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe runner up Putontheredlight among others.
Pomodoro is, however, no stranger to siring high-class fillies, with the former July winner’s first crop having produced champion filly, and multiple G1 winner, Return Flight, and he is also responsible for the very exciting two-year-old filly Caralluma.
South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro has seven lots on offer at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
