Canford Cliffs filly makes it two out of three

25th Jul 2018

Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s inform new stallion Canford Cliffs looks to have an above average filly to his name in the form of Queens Gift.
The latter made it two wins from just three outings when scoring a fluent win over six furlongs at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Queens Gift, who is trained by Michael Dods, hit the front with a furlong to run and stayed on smartly to post a one and a quarter length win.

The lightly raced 3yo, who is out of the Kingmambo mare Jawaaneb, had won on debut earlier this year before finishing second at her penultimate start over five furlongs.

Queens Gift is by no means the first talented filly sired by five time G1 winner Canford Cliffs.
Other notable daughters by the outstanding son of Tagula include group/graded winners Al Jazi, Fish River, Most Beautiful and Princess Asta –as well as G1 Investec Oaks third Harlequeen.

The brilliant miler could be represented in Saturday’s G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes by his talented son Salouen –beaten just a head by Cracksman when second in this year’s G1 Investec Coronation Cup.

Canford Cliffs, who like sire greats Sadler’s Wells and Dubawi won the Irish 2000 Guineas, stands his first season at Highlands in 2018.
