Ridgemont’s five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs looks to have come up with a top-class filly in the form of Direct Hit.
The latter made it two wins from two starts when she won the R1 000 000 G3 SplashOut Cape Of Good Hope Nursery (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Trained by Alan Greeff, the two-year-old had made a stunning debut when winning by seven and a quarter lengths at Fairview.
Direct Hit, who was still very green on Saturday, made a big impression when landing the Nursery.
Under Richard Fourie, the daughter of Canford Cliffs was always prominent in running, and Direct Hit drew clear in the closing stages to win as she liked by two and three quarter lengths.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Direct Hit has now won two starts by an aggregate of ten lengths.
The unbeaten filly is out of the Great Britain mare Wrecking Ball.
Direct Hit is the 28th stakes winner for Canford Cliffs, who himself won two of three starts at two including the G2 Coventry Stakes.
Also sire of this season’s Listed Betway Swallow Stakes winner Almond Sea, Canford Cliffs enjoyed success at Fairview one day earlier. His daughter Concerto dead-heated for first place in the fifth race on the card, with Concerto having won three times in all.
