Highlands Stud’s new stallion Canford Cliffs could be in for a big weekend this weekend.
The five time G1 winner has progeny fancied for two classics in two different countries.
Canford Cliffs’ daughter Fish River, an impressive winner of the recent G3 Three Troikas Stakes, has been priced up (by World Sports Betting) as the 5/2 second favourite for the G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas, which takes place at Turffontein this Saturday.
To date, the Australian bred Fish River has won or placed in six of seven starts and has already banked over R300 000 in prize money.
Saturday will also see the running of the G1 Australian Guineas at Flemington and Canford Cliffs’ high class son Cliff’s Edge is currently one of the leading fancies in the betting market.
Trained by Darren Weir, Cliff’s Edge has won of five of 12 outings and banked AUS$583 160 in stakes. He already has two pattern wins to his name, with Cliff’s Edge, runner up in the recent G3 CS Hayes Stakes, having won both the G3 Manfred Stakes and G3 Caulfield Classic.
