Cape sires represented in rich Korea race

2nd Jun 2017

Two prominent Cape stallions, Oratorio and Philanthropist, will be represented by runners in the Ttukesom Cup in South Korea on Sunday.

Philanthropist daughter Gaenari will jump from barrier six in the 1400m contest, while the Oratorio sired Silver Wolf is drawn at nine.

The two will start in Sunday’s $356 623 contest, which has attracted a field of 10 runners, and each runner will carry 126lbs.

Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Philanthropist has enjoyed another good week, and was represented this week by winners both in Canada and South Africa. The son of Kris S’s local winners included the impressive juvenile winner Tsessebe.

Philanthropist, whose first local crop includes graded winners She’s A Giver and exported Dingaans winner Singapore Sling, is the covering sire on four lots at the upcoming Mares, Weanlings & Fillies For Stud Select Sale.

He also has eight yearlings on the Klawervlei Farm Sale and two lots at the KZN Yearling Sale later this month.

Danehill’s triple G1 winning son and champion Oratorio, who stands at Avontuur, has made a flying start to his local stud career, with his first two-year-olds this season including feature race winner Arianos Bagofgold.  A proven sire worldwide, Oratorio is the covering sire on a single lot at the Mares, Weanlings & Fillies For Stud Select Sale.

He has five yearlings on sale at the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale
