Captain Al colt a highlight at KZN Sale

22nd Jun 2017

Boland Stud are proud to offer the only yearling by champion sire Captain Al at the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale at the end of the month.

The farm has already enjoyed plenty of success with the progeny of Captain Al, having produced the likes of G2 Hawaii Stakes winner Captain Al and high-class 2yo feature race winner The Merry Widow by the eight times champion 2yo sire.

Captain Al’s son, catalogued as lot 251, at the Natal Sale looks to be one of the top colts on sale this year.

Not only does the unnamed colt share his sire with such outstanding G1 winners/champions as All Is Secret, Captain’s Lover, William Longsword, Always In Charge, Captain Of All, Carry On Alice, Cloth Of Cloud, Met winner Hill Fifty Four and recent G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge winner Captain America, he is from one of the best families in the South African stud book.

A full brother to a winning 2yo, the colt on sale is out of a winning Silvano ½ sister to G2 SA Fillies Nursery winner Hidden Beauty, who, like lot 251, is by a son of champion sire Al Mufti.

Second dam Hidcote Blue is a winning National Assembly half-sister to 3 stakes winners, including G1 J&B Met winner, and champion Imperious Sue (dam of G1 Woolavington Stakes winner Imperious Star) and G2 Astrapak 1900 winner Royal Air Force –the sire of current smart performers Copper Force and Goodtime Gal.

William Longsword

This is the same family as G1 winning siblings Real Princess and William Longsword, with the latter, like the colt on sale, being a son of Captain Al. Now standing at Klawervlei, William Longsword was an outstanding athlete, who won six of just eight outings including the G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas and CTS Mile. William Longsword banked over R4.9 million during his career!
