Captain Al’s strong hand in Scottsville sprints

23rd May 2017

Klawervlei’s champion sire Captain Al will be extremely well represented in the four G1 sprints at Scottsville this Saturday.
The eight times champion sire of 2yos is carded to be represented by multiple runners in three of the day’s Grade One features, and is also broodmare sire of G1 Tsogo Gold Medallion hope Al Mariachi.

All Is Secret

Captain Al, sire of previous Allan Robertson winners All Is Secret and The Secret Is Out, has two runners in the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship –Listed Princess Charlene Of Monaco Foundation SA Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Call To Account and Princess Peach.

The Cape Guineas winner is also strongly represented in the G1 SA Fillies Sprint by his four time G1 winning daughter Carry On Alice, recent G3 Poinsettia Stakes winner The Secret Is Out and G2 CTS Southern Cross Stakes winner Jo’s Bond.

Carry On Alice is one of two daughters of Captain Al to have triumphed in this race previously (she won in 2015), with the other being Captain’s Gal (winner in 2010).

Captain Al, whose champion son Captain Of All won this race back in, has no fewer than five runners in Saturday’s G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint over 1200m.
His runners include G2 Merchants winner Search Party, G3 Cape Nursery winner Sergeant Hardy, Captain’s Causeway, Captain Swarovski and Barbosa.

Captain Of All

Captain Al, sire of the impressive Saturday 2yo winner Captain And Master, has eight lots on next month’s Klawervlei Farm Sale, including a filly out of a four time winning own sister to the dam of recent G1 winner Nightingale (Lot 3), a filly out of a ½ sister to 3 US graded stakes winners –including promising local sire Philanthropist (Lot 12), and a colt out of a ¾ sister to Singapore champion Lizarre (Lot 69).
