The Klawervlei Stud based champion Captain Of All looks to have come up with a really smart filly in the form of Springs Of Carmel
The latter made it three wins from just four starts when downing a high-class field to win the G2 Popsack SA Fillies Nursery (1160m) at Turffontein on Saturday afternoon.
Springs Of Carmel, who made it a 1-2 finish for trainer Paul Peter by beating stablemate Miracle Flight into second place in Saturday’s R150 000 feature, showed her class under jockey Piere Strydom by storming home late to land the G2 SA Fillies Nursery by three-parts of a length.
Springs Of Carmel had previously won the Listed The Citizen Ruffian Stakes, and she is clearly a very smart sort indeed. Bred by Klawervlei, Springs Of Carmel is one of several promising two-year-olds to have emerged from triple G1 winner Captain Of All’s exciting second crop.
This crop also includes Listed Cape Town And Western Cape Marketed By Wesgro Summer Juvenile Stakes runner up Emblem Of Hope, Listed Perfect Promise Sprint third placegetter Captain’s Flo, and Dad’s Catch – winner of two of her only four starts.
Former Klawervlei Farm Sale graduate, and South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2018-2019, Captain Of All made a cracking start with his first crop headed by G2 TAB/Betting World Dingaans hero and G1 SA Derby runner up Shango.
