Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi had a Monday to remember when he was represented by a treble of winners. The progeny of Trippi dominated early proceedings at Fairview, with Trippi sons landing races two, three and four respectively.
Remarkably, the son of End Sweep had five runners on the day, and all five earned a cheque.
First of the Trippi winners to score on Monday was the Tara Laing trained Miracle Bureau who made it win number five when scoring a one and a quarter length win in a pinnacle stakes over 1400m (with another son of Trippi, Afrikaburn back in third place) on Monday.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, former Grand Heritage contender Miracle Bureau (who has earned nearly R400 000 in stakes) had won the November Stakes two starts previously.
With Miracle Bureau landing Monday’s second race, Trippi son Robyn-Jack-Twigg gave their sire a quick double when romping to victory in the third race, a maiden plate over 1400m. Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the 3yo gelding was a R350 000 buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale.
Olympic Power, a brother in blood to Trippi’s Sun Met hope Gold Standard, gave Trippi the third leg of a hatrick when he collected his sixth career win when victorious in a handicap over 1900m. The consistent gelding, who is trained by Alan Greeff, has now won or placed in no fewer than 18 races.
South Africa’s Champion Sire in 2015-2016, Trippi is enjoying another good season with his top performers including Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes winner Miss Katalin, G1 Forus Cape Guineas runner up White River, and Golden Loom Handicap hero Graduation Day.
Sire of more than 60 stakes winners, and an increasingly successful broodmare sire to boot, Trippi has ten lots on offer at this week’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
