Classy double for G1 winning sire

18th Oct 2017

Lammerskraal’s G1 winning sire Visionaire has been enjoying a good spell, with winners flowing thick and fast of late, and the son of Grand Slam had another pair of winners at the Vaal on Tuesday.

First to score was Visigoth, who justified favouritism when breaking his maiden by 1.6 lengths for champion trainer Sean Tarry.

Bred by the Rotheson Stud, Visigoth, who was making just his third outing having been placed at his previous two starts, stayed on strongly under the urgings of S’Manga Khumalo when successful over 1700m.

Out of the Personal Hope mare Personify, Visigoth is a full-brother to smart filly Visuality, who has placed in five graded features including the G1 Allan Robertson Championship.

Visuality has been nominated for two KZN Breeders Awards and has earned more than R400 000 in stakes.

Her sire Visionaire was back in the winners enclosure when his lightly raced daughter Takingthepeace defied top weight of 62kgs to land a handicap over 1000 metres for former champion trainer Mike de Kock. Now a winner of two of just three outings, the speedy Takingthepeace looks a really smart sprinter in the making and hopefully the Summerhill Stud bred filly can build further on her record.

Visionaire’s Heaps Of Fun

Visionaire went close to having a treble on Tuesday when his progressive son The Thinker was beaten a short head by multiple feature race winner Exquisite Touch over 1000 metres. However, The Thinker did once again finish in front of former Equus Champion and G1 winner Talktothestars (with the latter having previously finished third to The Thinker last time out).

Winner of the prestigious G1 King’s Bishop Stakes himself, Visionaire will be represented by no fewer than 25 two-year-olds at next week’s Ready To Run Sale at Summerhill.
