Dancing Rags, a half-sister to Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young sire Coup De Grace, is one of 11 3yo fillies set to do battle in the G2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico on Friday.

The Graham Motion trained filly, whose wins include last year’s G2 Alcibiades Stakes, is set to concede from 4 to 6lbs to her ten rivals and will jump from barrier three.
Dancing Rags and Coup De Grace are out of the G3 Iowa Oaks third Home Court –a daughter of Storm Cat and US champion and G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Jewel Princess.
Coup De Grace himself was a top class racehorse whose wins included both the G2 Amsterdam Stakes and G3 Bay Shore Stakes, and also finished third in the G1 King’s Bishop Stakes.
He shares his champion broodmare sire Storm Cat with outstanding sire Speightstown, successful stallion Sky Mesa and hot young US sire Bodemeister, the sire of 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming.

The only son of triple US champion sire Tapit (himself sire of Black –Eyed Susan contenders Actress and Tapa Tapa Tapa) at stud in South Africa, Coup De Grace is the covering sire on six lots at next month’s Mares, Weanlings, & Fillies For Stud Select Sale.
His first foals arrive later this year.
