Ridgemont Highlands’ five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs had a debut winner in Australia on Wednesday when his four-year-old daughter Canford Springs won first time out.
Under jockey Leah Kilner, Canford Springs romped home to a debut win when scoring a 2.3 length triumph over 1106m at Grafton on Wednesday.
The filly, victorious in a barrier trial previously, is out of the Encosta De Lago mare Sorenstam.
Canford Cliffs also had a two-year-old score in Britain the previous day, when his daughter Lafontaine claimed a nursery at Kempton on Tuesday evening.
Out of a mare by the Drakenstein Stud based Duke Of Marmalade, two-year-old Lafontaine stayed on gamely in the closing stages of the one mile race to post a neck triumph.
The filly had been fourth at her previous start.
Her Irish 2000 Guineas winning sire Canford Cliffs is the sire of 34 stakes horses including recent G2 Antler Luggage Fillies Classic dead-heater La Falaise.
