Varsfontein Stud’s exciting young sire Gimmethegreenlight has some very smart three year olds to his name this season, including SA Fillies Nursery winner Green Plains, Western Cape Fillies Championship hope Rose In Bloom, and Ready To Run Cup hope Surcharge, a winner of his last three on the bounce.

The former G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner had yet another eye catching sophomore winner when his son Ready Steady Go made a winning debut over 1000m at Durbanville on Saturday.
Trained by Harold Crawford, the gelding is out of the Jet Master mare Teresina and was a R180 000 buy from the 2016 March Yearling Sale.
Ready Steady Go is bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Jet Master cross as top class filly Green Plains, who has earned more than R600 000, and East Cape Guineas winner Gimme The Stars.
The sire of first crop graded winners Gunner, Hack Green, Green Pepper and Fillies Guineas winner Gimme Six, Gimmethegreenlight is one of more than 170 stakes winners sired by outstanding shuttle sire More Than Ready.
A half-brother to G1 winner Ofcourseican, Gimmethegreenlight has eight lots on the 2017 CTS Ready To Run Sale next month.
