Klawervlei Stud’s homebred Cape Guineas winner William Longsword has enjoyed a great run of success this year, and the son of Captain Al was at it again when William Longsword came up with an eye catching debut winner at Turffontein on Saturday.
His three-year-old son Back In Business was the object of plenty of pre-race support prior to the running of the second race on Saturday, and the son of William Longsword lived up to expectations with an impressive performance on debut.
Slow into stride, the Joe Soma trained colt was delivered with a strong late rattle by S’Manga Khumalo and the pair got up in the shadow of the post and score by a head.
Described by his trainer in the post-race interview as a “special horse who can only improve, Back In Business provided his connections with a second win from the first two races run at Turffontein.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Back In Business is a full-brother to Listed City of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes contender Kupholiwe.
His inform sire had also enjoyed success at Fairview the day before, when William Longsword filly Tipsy Tina had scored her third career win when victorious over 1000 metres.
William Longsword, also responsible for a double at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last Tuesday, has seven lots on offer at this year’s Cape Yearling Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 95) to multiple G1 winning champion Via Africa, herself dam of Australian G1 winner In The Congo.
