Klawervlei Stud’s homebred G1 Cape Guineas winning stallion William Longsword looks to have come up with a potentially smart two-year-old in the form of Count Of Rouen.
The latter made the perfect start to his career when he made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.
Trained by Peter Muscutt, the Riverton Stud bred Count Of Rouen (9/2) was given a fine ride by Serino Moodley.
The latter bought his mount with a strong late run, which saw the colt storm home to claim Wednesday’s Greyville Convention Centre Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m) by nearly a length and three quarters.
Count Of Rouen’s sire William Longsword has another promising two-year-old to his name this season in the form of North Point, a winner of two of just five starts.
William Longsword is one of a growing number of Captain Al sons making his mark at stud.
Captain Al sons Erik The Red and One World are South Africa’s Leading First and Second Second Season Sires this season, while another son, Captain Of All, is the sire of this season’sG1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic winner Fiery Pegasus.
