The Alchemy’s resident sire Dan De Lago has been sparsely represented as a sire, but nonetheless has been making the most of limited opportunities.

A son of former Australian Champion sire Encosta De Lago, Dan De Lago has been represented by just four two-year-old runners this season thus far.
However, three of the four have finished in the money, and they include the winners Lolita Delago, a feature race contender, and Wednesday’s Kenilworth scorer Why Wouldn’t Yew.

Dan De Lago’s first crop now three, include 13 horses, from just over 20 runners, to have won or finished in the money, and he surely deserves more attention.

A top class performer himself, Dan De Lago (who shares his broodmare sire Danehill with such popular young sires Siyouni, Frankel, and Sepoy) won or placed in ten of just 15 outings, with his wins including the G2 Gold Circle Derby.

Among the horses beaten by Dan De Lago, who also ran second to champion and July winner Big City Life in the G1 Daily News 2000, in the Derby were G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup winner Lizard’s Desire and the G1 winners Aslan and In Writing.

He shares his sire Encosta De Lago with the ill-fated Australian sire sensation Northern Meteor and G1 winner Manhattan Rain –sire of recent G1 Sun Met winner Whisky Baron and 2017 G1 Longines Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign.
