An Invincible Spirit half-brother to Maine Chance Farms’ exciting new stallion prospect Erupt will be offered at the 2018 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, set to take place on October 2-3 this year.
The colt (catalogued as Lot 393) is the 13th foal of G3 Prix Vanteaux winner, and G1 Prix Saint-Alary runner up, Mare Nostrum.
The latter, a half-sister to G1 Yellow Ribbon Invitational winner Aube Indienne, is also dam of dual G1 winner Erupt, Listed Pretty Polly Stakes winner Marie de Medici (dam of Invincible Spirit’s G3 Oh So Sharp winner Local Time) and the dam of stakes winner and G1 Prix Saint-Alary third Lady Penko.
This is the family of leading stallions Night Shift, Flying Spur, Encosta De Lago and Holy Roman Emperor, with the last name responsible for a pair of European classic winners in 2018- namely Irish 2000 Guineas winner Romanised and Sunday’s German Oaks winner Well Timed.
Erupt, who shares his Prix du Jockey Club winning broodmare sire Caerleon with current Cape sire sensation Twice Over, was a superb athlete, whose five wins included the 2015 G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (beating G1 winner Silverwave) and the 2016 Pattison Canadian International (over Breeders’ Cup winner World Approval and Melbourne Cup hero Protectionist). Erupt banked over £900 000 in prize money and accounted for such big names as World Approval, Protectionist, The Pizza Man, Free Eagle, Found, Trip To Paris, and Vazirabad.
He is one of 35 G1 winners sired by triple G1 winner Dubawi (by Dubai Millennium), whose other sire sons Makfi and Poet’s Word –both of whom have sired G1 winners. Dubawi is also sire of Wild Illusion, the winner of last Thursday’s G1 Qatar Nassau Stakes.
