The Maine Chance Farms based Erupt gained yet a further boost to his stellar pedigree page when his promising relative Sikorsky won impressively at Flemington racecourse on Saturday.
The 100th winner in 2019-2020 for his sire Pierro, four-year-old Sikorsky was fourth in the Group I VRC Victoria Derby before a tendon injury disrupted his career.
Gelded during his time away from racing, Sikorsky was having his third run back from a spell in the 1600 metre 78 event and won running away by a length and a half.
“We really like this horse, we like him before he had his injury,” said co-trainer Ben Hayes.
The $128,000 Listed Winter Championship Final and G1 VRC Cantala Stakes are both potential targets for the smart looking Sikorsky -who has now won or placed in six of just ten starts.
Out of the Rock Of Gibraltar sired G3 Vanity Stakes winner Musidora, Sikorsky’s fourth dam is Canadian Horse Of The Year, and outstanding producer, Fanfreluche.
Fanfreluche, in turn, also rates as the fourth dam of G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris/G1 Pattison Canadian International winner Erupt.
This is also the family of top-class stallions Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur, Holy Roman Emperor and Night Shift.
