The Hemel ‘N Aarde based Jay Peg enjoyed a memorable weekend, when the former Equus Champion was represented by a trio of winners across South Africa.

Jay Peg’s weekend treble included an eye catching feature race winner in the form of his Favour Stud bred son Woljayrine.
One of the best of his generation at two the gelded 3yo Woljayrine impressed when landing the Durban Dash at Greyville on Saturday for trainer Vaughan Marshall and jockey MJ Byleveld. He ran out a comfortable 1.5 length winner of the 1100m feature, holding G1 Computaform Sprint third Speedpoint comfortably, as tote favourite.

Woljayrine, who has now won or placed in seven of his 12 races, won the G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes at two, before running fourth in last year’s G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion.

Out of the Wolfhound mare Woelfin, Woljayrine is inbred to Lassie Dear –as are Jay Peg’s graded stakes winning 2yos Flash Drive and Hot Affair.

His sire also enjoyed a Friday double with trainer Yvette Bremner, when the latter sent out the Klawervlei Stud bred Peg Of Zeus and Hemel ‘n Aarde bred Tombodi to win over 1200m and 1600m respectively at Fairview.

Four time G1 winner Jay Peg, whose high class Neala won a barrier trial at Greyville on Sunday, has enjoyed another memorable season this year, with his notable winners including G2 WSB Cape Merchants winner Silicone Valley. The latter picked up the eighth win of his career, and pushed his earnings to over R850 000, when downing star 3yo Dutch Philip over 1200m at Kenilworth in April.

Jay Peg, whose other notable winners include graded stakes winners Exit Here, Olympic Owen and Peggy Jay, has four yearlings on offer at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale next month.
