Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi is really making his presence felt as a broodmare sire of note.
Not only is the son of End Sweep responsible as a damsire for top-class gallopers and sires Liam’s Map and Not This Time, but Trippi is also damsire of Derby winner Multiplier and unbeaten US two-year-old Aveenu Malcainu, an impressive recent winner of the Funny Cide Stakes.
Trippi, South Africa’s champion sire of 2015-2016, is also maternal grandsire of smart filly Miss Sunset, who garnered her fifth career stakes win (and sixth win overall) when landing the CERF Stakes at Del Mar on Monday.
Trained by Jeff Bonde and ridden by Mike Smith, Miss Sunset drew clear to post a facile 1.75 length victory in Monday’s 1200m contest.
A daughter of Into Mischief, Miss Sunset, unbeaten in four starts at Del Mar, has now won six of ten outings and over $450 000 in prize money.
She is out of the Trippi mare Tuscan Sunset, who won three of her seven outings.
Trippi has an excellent record with his daughters, with his star female runners including five time G1 winner Inara, G1 Spinaway Stakes winner R Heat Lightning, local G1 winners For The Lads and Real Princess, Equus Champion Hammie’s Hooker, and Live Life –who earned more than R4.5 million.
