First runner for Jackson

28th Nov 2017

Highlands Stud’s exciting young stallion Jackson, whose first yearlings fetched up to R2 million in 2017, will be represented by his first ever runner at Scottsville this Sunday.

Dynasty

The son of red hot sire Dynasty (whose son Liege won this weekend’s G1 Sansui Summer Cup), is the sire of the Highlands bred Mystical Son, who is set to make his debut over 800 metres this weekend.

Out of the regally bred stakes placed Magical Eve, Mystical Son was a R130 000 purchase from the 2017 Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale.

The colt’s sire Jackson (also bred by Highlands) was a superb racehorse whose six career wins included the G1 Investec Cape Derby (where Jackson beat dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club in a canter), the G1 Daily News 2000 and the G1 Champions Cup.

Jackson, who himself was the top lot sold from the 2010 National Two Year Old Sale, earned over R2.3 million in a career which saw the handsome colt win or place in 13 of his 17 outings.

Jackson

He is one of 14 G1 winners sired by Horse Of The Year Dynasty, whose other notable performers include the Horse Of The Year winning sires Futura, Legislate and Irish Flame.

Jackson, who shares his broodmare sire Cozzene with the great sire Pivotal, is a full-brother to G3 Byerley Turk winner Heartland and a half-brother to G3 Lebelo Sprint winner Jade Bay.

Another sibling, Grab The Light, to Jackson topped the 2017 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale, when sold for R3 800 000.

The triple G1 winner is from the same family as outstanding US champion sire Smart Strike and to the successful local stallions Strike Smartly and Sail From Seattle.
