Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi, whose notable winners this season include the unbeaten three-year-old Broadway Trip, could be in for a profitable Saturday this weekend.
The son of End Sweep has no fewer than five feature race contenders at Turffontein –including two smart fillies set to do battle in the G3 Yellowwood Handicap.
Trippi’s Yellowwood runners include Shatoosh (who has won or placed in 12 of her 15 outings) and the progressive filly Guns And Roses. The latter will be looking to make it six wins on the bounce when making her feature race debut in the R250 000 Yellowwood Handicap.
Trippi will also be represented in Saturday’s G3 Princess Charlene Starling Stakes by recent debut winning filly Flowersfromabrook, who is yet to taste defeat, while other feature race contenders for the Champion Sire of 2015-2016 include former G1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint runner up African Ruler and the very talented Graduation Day, both of whom do battle in the Listed Golden Loom Handicap.
(The Golden Loom Handicap was previously won by Trippi’s short lived star son Trip Tease, who captured the race back in 2014).
Sire of nearly 70 stakes winners the world over, Trippi has made his customary blazing start to the season with his other notable performers including the very promising Cot Campbell, a good third in the recent G3 Cape Classic.
The champion has three lots on offer at the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale, including a colt out of Fillies Guineas runner up Generous Anna (Lot 56), and a colt whose Dynasty sired dam is a half-sister to Cape Derby winner Bravura (Lot 85).
