Weekend fourtimer for Master Of My Fate

8th Feb 2025

Varsfontein Stud’s top-class sire Master Of My Fate had a good day on Friday.
Not only did the son of Jet Master come up with two winners, but Master Of My Fate had a further four runners finish either second or third on Friday.
Master Of My Fate’s first success on Friday came when his daughter Sun Spectacular won the seventh race at Fairview.
The Kelly Mitchley trained four-year-old dug down deep, under Muzi Yeni, to land Friday’s Racing240 For Racing. For You FM 78 Handicap (1400m) by a neck.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Sun Spectacular was winning for a second time.
Sun Spectacular, who is out of the Dawn Approach mare Sun Up, was originally knocked down for R70 000 at the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale, before being sold to her current connections on the February Online Sale.
Master Of My Fate is also the sire of smart gelding Mr Master Starter, who caught the eye when he won the second race at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday evening.
The Dean Kannemeyer trained six-year-old, under a well judged ride from Gavin Lerena, quickened up smartly to win the Gallop TV Youtube Channel Class 3 (1200m) by a length, with another son of Master Of My Fate, Mr Henley, finishing third.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Mr Master Starter has won six of 34 starts and has earned more than R500 000 in prize money.
Out of the Captain Al mare Wild Liasion, Mr Master Starter is bred on the same Master Of My Fate/Captain Al cross as graded stakes winners Basadi Faith and Pretty Betty.

His sire went on to enjoy success at both Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday and Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
Master Of My Fate’s three-year-old son Jet Force made a big impression when winning on debut at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, while the following day, the sire’s daughter My Lady Fate got off the mark when she won broke her maiden at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

Trained by Des McLachlan, Jet Force made a mockery of his starting price, when he flew up late to land Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1200m) by three parts of a length.

Bred by Beaumont Stud, Jet Force is a full-brother to Master Of My Fate’s five time winning daughter Hierkommiebokkie.

Master Of My Fate’s fourth and final winner of the weekend came when his daughter Our Lady Fate won Sunday’s Online Form Guide www.gallop.co.za Maiden Plate over 1400m.

Under Tristan Godden, the Varsfontein Stud bred three-year-old put her head down where it mattered most to win by a head.

Her inform sire Master Of My Fate also made his presence felt as a broodmare sire on Sunday, with Ideal Gift (out of the Master Of My Fate mare Patricia’s Gift) winning the sixth race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

Master Of My Fate, currently third on the General Sires premiership, has eight lots on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale and ten lots on the Premier Yearling Sale.
