Gimmethegreenlight son wins on debut

21st Jun 2020

Varsfontein Stud’s top class sire Gimmethegreenlight has some very smart two-year-olds this season, and the former G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner recorded another juvenile success when his gelded son Dubai Lights made a winning debut on Sunday.

A well bred two-year-old, Dubai Lights made a mockery of his 66-1 starting price by powering home and getting up in the shadow of the post to win by a neck, under a well timed ride from Oswald Noach.

Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Dubai Lights is trained by Vaughan Marshall.

The well related two-year-old was a R250 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Dubai Lights is the eighth juvenile winner for Gimmethegreenlight this season thus far, with South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2015-2016 also responsible for brilliant East Cape Fillies Nursery winner Favorita, G3 Kenilworth Filllies Nursery runner up Fiftyshadesdarker and the smart debut winner Kayson.

Sire of the first three past the post in the 2020 G1 SA Classic, Gimmethegreenlight has 37 yearlings on offer at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
