Varsfontein Stud’s red hot sire Gimmethegreenlight’s increasing popularity was seen to good effect, when the former L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner was the Leading Sire, by Aggregate, at Thursday’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
The son of outstanding sire More Than Ready had 14 yearlings gross R6 825 00 at Thursday’s sale, which placed Gimmethegreenlight above such top stallions as Silvano, Trippi and Dynasty.
Gimmethegreenlight’s top lot to sell on Thursday was his unnamed colt (Lot 174) out of Cupid, with that Klawervlei Stud (As Agent) consigned colt eventually knocked down to EI Bloodstock for R2 200 000 -making the son of Gimmethegreenlight the joint third top lot sold off the 2020 Premier Sale.
Other yearlings by Gimmethegreenlight to prove popular at Thursday’s sale was the Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm consigned filly (Lot 37) out of Muamba who fetched R1 100 000, and the Connemara Stud consigned colt Kwinta’s Light (Lot13) who was knocked down for R550 000.
South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2015-2016, Gimmethegreenlight is enjoying another good season in 2019-2020, with his notable representatives including G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship winner Third Runway, and G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile hero Barahin.
