The G1 winning millionaire, whose relatives include Rosedene Stud’s resident sire Greys Inn, was sold to Katsumi Yoshida for € 950 000 –making the daughter of Redoute’s Choice the joint second top lot sold on Thursday.
Melito, who was consigned by Castlebridge Consignment, won five times in Australia, with her wins including the G1 Sky Racing Winter Stakes and the G1 Darley TJ Smith Stakes. Melito, whose wins all came in group races, also placed in seven further G1 contests.
The mare, in foal to Galileo, is out of Listed VATC Debutante winner Cloister –whose relatives include not only South African champions Greys Inn and Smart Call but also outstanding sprinter and top class sire Zeditave. Melito’s two winners to date include Japanese G3 performer Campbell Junior (by Encosta De Lago). The latter races for Katsumi Yoshida.
The same sale saw a full-sister to Highlands Stud’s G1 winning sire Pathfork fetch €190 000 to the bid of Lorraine Bloodstock.
The three-year-old Awareness, a daughter of Distorted Humor and stakes winning Sadler’s Wells daughter Visions Of Clarity, was placed in a brief racing career, but has a stellar pedigree and hails from one of the greatest families in the stud book.

Her dam Visions Of Clarity is not only dam of Irish Champion 2YO and Highlands sire Pathfork, but she is also a half-sister to five time G1 winner, and 1997 G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner, Spinning World.
Visions Of Clarity’s second dam is G1 Phoenix Stakes winner Aviance, whose notable offspring include the G1 winners Chimes Of Freedom (dam herself of champion sprinter and G1 sire Aldebaran) and Denon.
