A colt foal from the same family as successful Cape sire Greys Inn fetched an impressive €625 000 at Goffs November Foal Sale on Wednesday.

Sired by the world’s premier sire Galileo, the colt foal was knocked down to Ken Bolger. He is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Melito, whose five wins included the G1 TJ Smith Stakes and G1 Winter Stakes.
Melito, who herself is on offer at the Goffs Breeding Stock Sale in foal to Galileo, earned in excess of £1.7 million during her career and is also dam of five time winner Campbell Junior, who was 2nd in the G3 Lord Derby Challenge Trophy.
She is out of Listed Debutante winner Cloister –a granddaughter of the great broodmare Summoned (the granddam of globetrotting champion Greys Inn).
Cloister is also second dam of talented Australian galloper Pariah (also by Redoute’s Choice), winner of the G3 ATC San Domenico Stakes and G3 ATC Canonbury Stakes and destined to stand at Arrowfield Stud.
This is also the family of Equus Champion Smart Call, a runner in next month’s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Vase.

Himself a former Equus Champion and Vodacom Durban July winner, Greys Inn has consistently sired high class runners since retiring to stud. The son of Zabeel’s top offspring include dual Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle, who is being prepped towards winning the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate for a third time this season, as well as such G1 winners as Royal Bencher (SA Derby) and King Of Pain (Rising Sun Gold Challenge).
Greys Inn, who spent part of the season at Highlands Stud, is now back at Rosedene Stud.
