Greyville graded double for Silvano

28th Jun 2020

Maine Chance Farms’ multiple champion sire Silvano had a super weekend this week, with his sons Hawwaam and Imperial Ruby landing the G1 World Sports Betting Premier’s Champions Challenge and G3 Bidvest Gold Bowl respectively on Saturday, and daughters Silvano’s Pride and Summer Pudding winning the G2 Tibouchina Stakes and G1 Woolavington 2000 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday respectively.

Silvano’s Pride

Last year’s G1 Woolavington 2000 winner Silvano’s Pride picked up her fifth career when she won Saturday’s Tibouchina Stakes for owner-breeder Anthony Peter and trainer Justin Snaith.

The four-year-old Silvano was prominent throughout Sunday’s 1400m race and drew off, under jockey Keagan De Melo, to beat stablemate Sleeping Single by just over two and a quarter lengths.

Runner up in last year’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas, Silvano’s Pride has now earned R1 249 875.

Unbeaten filly Summer Pudding, who recently completed the clean sweep of South Africa’s Triple Tiara by winning the G2 Gauteng Filllies Guineas, G1 SA Fillies Classic and G2 SA Oaks, became Silvano’s second consecutive Woolavington 2000 winner when she ran out a courageous winner of Sunday’s G1 Woolavington 2000.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the three-year-old Paul Peter trained Summer Pudding made it seven wins from as many starts when she won the 2020 Woolavington by just under a length.

Silvano truly enjoyed a super Sunday at Greyville and his sons Arizona Silk and In Auro became their sire’s third and fourth winners respectively on the day when winning races nine and ten respectively.
