Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi had an eye catching two-year-old winner at Durbanville on Saturday.
His daughter Lesedi La Rona produced an impressive turn of foot to come from the back of the field to land a maiden juvenile plate over 1250m going away.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Lesedi La Rona is trained by Candice Bass-Robinson.
Lesedi La Rona is the third winner out of the stakes placed Western Winter Barberton Daisy with Saturday’s debut winner being an own sister to Flamboyant Stakes second Impala Lily.
South Africa’s Champion Sire in 2015-2016, Trippi is no stranger to siring high class 2yos, with the son of End Sweep’s previous notable juvenile winners including G1 winners Afrikaburn, For The Lads, and R Heat Lightning, as well as graded stakes winners Franny, Hammie’s Hooker, and Punk Rocker as well as the brilliant Queen Mary Stakes winner Jealous Again.
The sire of more than 130 stakes horses, who have banked in excess of $58 000 000 worldwide, Trippi has enjoyed another good season with his top performers including Cape Guineas second White River and millionaire filly Miss Katalin.
He will be represented by two runners (Torre Del Oro and Graduation Day) in Saturday’s G2 Senor Santa Stakes.
