The female line of Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young stallion William Longsword got an additional boost when Pearl Of Bahrain scored an impressive victory at the Vaal on Tuesday.
Trained by Mike de Kock, the 3yo Western Winter filly, making just her second racetrack appearance, simply outclassed her 12 rivals to break her maiden by 3.7 lengths over 1500m.
Pearl Of Bahrain, who looks a smart sort in the making, is out of G1 Woolavington 2200 runner up Arabian Pearl (a full-sister to Dubai champion and G1 sire Victory Moon).
The latter, in turn, is by Al Mufti (grandsire of William Longsword) out of Dancing Flower, the granddam of William Longsword.
A son of deceased champion sire and eight times champion 2yo sire Captain Al, William Longsword was an outstanding racehorse whose six wins from just eight outings including the G1 Cape Guineas and CTS Mile.
Among the top class horses beaten by the handsome William Longsword (himself a R2 200 000 yearling buy) during his career, were champions Edict Of Nantes and Just Sensual, G1 LQP runner up Copper Force, recent Hong Kong Classic Mile runner up Singapore Sling, and dual Guineas winner Janoobi.
William Longsword, a half-brother to G1 winning sprinter Real Princess and to G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes entrant Silver God, has already made his presence felt as a stallion, as he was the covering sale on Queen Of Spain who topped the recent CTS Breeding Stock Sale, when knocked down to Rathmor Stud for R2.6 million.
His first foals arrive in 2018.
