Jay Peg son lands Breeders Champions Cup

16th Mar 2020

The Hemel ‘N Aarde based Jay Peg enjoyed big race success in Zimbabwe on Sunday, when his son Peggson captured the Listed Breeders Champions Cup (2000m) at Borrowdale racecourse.

It was a memorable, and triumphant, afternoon at Borrowdale Park on Sunday afternoon for the Bridget Stidolph yard. The stable sent out the winners of both the feature races, and Mathew Thackeray rode both.

Former Castle Tankard winner Peggson ran out an easy winner of the Breeders Champions Cup when scoring by three lengths over Three To Tango.

Bred by the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud,  five-year-old Peggson (who was conceding weight to his rivals) made it win number six with his Sunday victory.

Peggson has a Time Thief half-brother (Lot 330) on offer at this year’s National Sale.

His four-time G1 winning sire Jay Peg, South Africa’s Equus Champion 3YO Colt of 2006-2007, is currently the sire of 19 stakes horses including the graded stakes winners Silicone Valley, Exit Here, Peggy Jay, Woljayrine, Olympic Owen, Hot Affair and Flash Drive.
