Varsfontein Stud’s top class stallion Judpot had a pair of smart looking winners catch the eye at Kenilworth on Tuesday.
Judpot’s two-year-old daughter Nous Voila stamped herself as a filly to follow when making a winning debut over 1000m for Candice Bass-Robinson and the Niarchos family.
The regally bred filly, who is out of the Street Cry mare Zosma, showed plenty of resolution when kicking on over the closing stages to down the beautifully bred Canukeepitsecret (a full-sister to G1 winning juveniles All Is Secret and The Secret Is Out) by a length and a quarter
It was four lengths back to the third place finisher. Nous Voila is now likely to be aimed at the G1 Allan Robertson Championship later in the season.
Judpot is no stranger to siring high class 2yos –past star juveniles sired by the son of A P Indy include champion Along Came Polly, G1 winner Forest Indigo and such high class stakes winners as Colour Of Courage, Maleficent, and Golden Slipper winner Final Judgement.
The latter is trained by Glen Kotzen who sent out Judpot’s 3yo daughter Expedite to win, at just the second time of asking, over 1200m.
Closely inbred to the great stallion Nureyev, the Varsfontein Stud bred Expedite is a three parts sister to G1 Golden Horseshoe winner and former Equus award nominee Forest Indigo.
The filly was a R250 000 buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale.
Her sire Judpot is well represented at both the 2018 April Yearling Sale (8 lots) and National Yearling Sale (10 yearlings).
