A close relative of successful Cape sire Judpot made a smart debut at Saint-Cloud racecourse yesterday.
Study Of Man, a son of Japanese champion Deep Impact and Judpot’s Storm Cat half-sister Second Happiness, gave rider Stephane Pasquier a temporary scare exiting the widest stall as he lost his left iron for a few strides, quickly recovered to press the pace in a close-up second. Taking over from Near Gold (GB) (Dansili {GB}) with two furlongs remaining, the 22-5 shot asserted to beat that rival by two lengths as they pulled five lengths clear of the rest.
Study Of Man is a three-parts brother to G1 Dubai Turf hero Real Steel, while his second dam is legendary champion Miesque, whose 14 victories included 10 G1 triumphs.
Miesque, best known as the dam of classic winners East Of The Moon and Kingmambo, has made her mark in South Africa through the deeds of successful sire son Judpot, while her granddaughter Amanee won the G1 Thekwini Stakes and G2 Fillies Guineas in this country.
Other members of this great family to score in good races during 2017 include the ill-fated Permian (won G2 Betfred Dante Stakes, 2nd Grand Prix de Paris) and Godolphin’s Leshlaa.
Judpot has some smart 3yos representing him this season including Golden Slipper second Let It Flow and debut winner Aurora Australis.
