Varsfontein Stud’s successful sire Judpot is from one of the hottest families in the stud book.
Judpot, himself a half-brother to breed shaping sire Kingmambo, is from the same family as recent G2 Betfred Dante Stakes winner Permian (Teofilo) –a contender for next month’s G1 Investec Derby, as well as the unbeaten 2yo and recent Listed EBF Fillies’ Sprint Stakes winner Alpha Centauri –a leading contender for Royal Ascot’s G3 Albany Stakes.
The latest high class performer to have emerged from this marvellous family is Thursday’s G3 Matchbook Brigadier Gerard Stakes winner Autocractic (by Duabwi). Given a superb ride by Ryan Moore, Autocratic weaved his way through runners to run strongly and post a 1.25 length win in the 2000m, with multiple G1 winner Mondialiste among those beaten.
Autocratic, who joins the likes of G1 winners Workforce, Commanche Run, Mtoto, Bosra Sham and Pilsudski as Brigadier Gerard Stakes winners, has now won three and is a half-brother to G3 Horris Hill Stakes winner Evasive.
He is out of the Storm Cat mare Canda –whose dam East Of The Moon (winner of both the G1 French 1000 Guineas and French Oaks), is a half-sister to Judpot.
Judpot, sire of previous G1 winners Along Came Polly, Forest Indigo and Juxtapose, will be represented in Saturday’s G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion by Sniper Shot, a winner of two of his four outings.
