Ridgemont’s top-class stallion Rafeef had another good day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
Not only did Rafeef gelding Ziyasha win Saturday’s KRA Cup, but another son of the inform Rafeef, City Of Love, made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
The Clinton Binda trained Ziyasha showed plenty of heart when he won the KRA Cup (1000m).
Under a strong ride from Raymond Danielson, the four-year-old kept going gamely to hold off a fast finishing Hithemhardsunshine and win by just under a length.
It was a fine performance by Ziyasha, who was making his first start since winning The Bantry Bay Stakes back in November.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Ziyasha is out of the Kingmambo mare Kelly’s Olympics.
Ziyasha has won six of 20 starts, with the Rafeef gelding having also finished runner up in the 2024 G3 Betway National Currency Sprint.
His G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire has a very promising crop of two-year-olds to his name this season, and Rafeef came up with yet another bright looking juvenile prospect when his son City Of Love made a winning debut on Saturday.
Trained by Kumaran Naidoo, the gelded City Of Love made a mockery of his 50-1 starting price as he stormed home to win the WSB.co.az Maiden Plate (1000m) by nearly two and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, City Of Love is out of the Var mare Isle De France and is thus bred on the same cross as G1 Computaform Sprint winning sires Master Archie and Thunderstruck.
City Of Love is the 11th two-year-old winner for Rafeef this season, with this tally including Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes winner Glastonbury, the promising All The Rage, and G2 TAB SA Nursery runner up Esteemed.
