Lancaster Bomber brother to star at Keeneland

8th Aug 2019

A full-brother to Drakenstein Stud’s exciting new stallion Lancaster Bomber promises to be one of the star attractions on the first day of the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale (which starts on September 9th).

A son of Claiborne Farm’s outstanding stallion War Front,  the Irish bred bay (Lot 124) has been consigned to the sale by Gainesway Farm, Agent XXXI.

The colt was produced by the Indian Ridge mare Sun Shower, whose five winners include an impressive four individual stakes winners.

Sun Shower is not only dam of G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, and exciting Cape sire, Lancaster Bomber, she is also responsible for triple G1 winner Excelebration (himself the sire of G1 St James’s Palace Stakes winner Barney Roy), 14 time winner Shivalik Showers, and triple group winner Mull Of Killough.

Sun Shower herself is out of the Warning daughter Miss Kemble –whose dam Sarah Siddons won both the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas and G1 Yorkshire Oaks, and whose progeny include Irish Oaks winner Princess Pati.

Further back, this is the family of champion, and successful sire, Ragusa, and legendary South African champion Politician.

Lancaster Bomber, who is booked full for 2019,  won or placed in eight races, and scored the biggest win of his career when accounting for group winners Cliffs Of Moher, Defoe, and Success Days to win the 2018 G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup (a race whose previous winners include champions Montjeu, Duke Of Marmalade, So You Think (twice) and Hurricane Run).
