Klawervlei Stud’s popular young sire William Longsword gained a further boost to his pedigree page on Saturday when his talented half-brother Silver God scored at Turffontein on Gauteng Chris Gerber Summer Cup day.
An early Summer Cup entry, the Klawervlei Stud bred gelding romped home to score as he liked by three lengths, winning for trainer Sean Tarry and Luke Ferraris.
Thought good enough to take his chances in both the G1 SA Classic and G1 SA Derby as a three-year-old Silver God is one of four winners produced by the winning Fort Wood mare Pagan Princess.
The latter is best known as the dam of brilliant G1 Cape Guineas victor Wililam Longsword and the latter’s G1 SA Fillies Sprint winning half-sister Real Princess.
William Longsword, who shares his late, great sire Captain Al with current sire sensation Captain Of All, won six of just eight starts including both the G1 Cape Guineas and CTS Mile.
Bred on the same cross as triple G1 winner Captain America among others, William Longsword has 13 members of his first crop on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
