Star three-year-old Malmoos, whose stakes winning dam is a half-sister to Varsfontein Stud’s up and coming sire Master Of My Fate, showed his class when he won the G2 World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas (1600m) at Turffontein on Saturday.

Under recent Met winning rider Luke Ferraris, the Varsfontein Stud bred Malmoos tracked the front running Bingwa in Saturday’s R525 000 feature.
Hitting the front some way from home, Malmoos kept finding and held on well to score by a neck, with some of Gauteng most promising three-year-olds behind him.
A R4 400 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, the Captain Al sired Malmoos has now won five of just six starts. Prior to his Guineas win, the Mike de Kock trained sophomore had won his first four races in a row, with Malmoos’ other wins including scores in both the G2 Avontuur Estate Concorde Cup and G3 Palacebet.Co.Za Live Games Graham Beck Stakes.
His close relative Master Of My Fate has been enjoying a fantastic season in 2020-2021 and at the time of writing, heads South Africa’s General Sires List.
Master Of My Fate, whose daughter Miss Elegance ran third in Saturday’s G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas, has ten lots on the Cape Yearling Sale, and four lots on offer at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
