More juvenile success for Ideal World

25th Jun 2018

Mauritzfontein’s in-form resident stallion Ideal World has been enjoying consistent success this season and the beautifully bred Kingmambo son had another smart looking two-year-old winner at Scottsville on Saturday.

Inverroche

The Duncan Howells trained Grecian Laurel became Ideal World’s fourth juvenile winner this season, when the two-year-old filly won impressively, over older rivals, over 1200m, having been unplaced in a barrier trial at her only previous appearance.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Grecian Laurel, a half-sister to G1 SA Derby winner Bouquet-Garni, was produced by the Fort Wood mare Bay Tree.

She was one of two South African winners for Ideal World this weekend, with the latter’s son Hirohito scoring for trainer Weiho Marwing on Sunday.

Best known as the sire of Equus Champions Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo, Ideal World has had another memorable season in 2017-2018 thanks to his unbeaten G3 Winter Guineas/Winter Classic winning son Rainbow Bridge, and his high class 2yo daughters Inverroche and Coral Bay.

The latter has won two of her three outings, including the G3 Strelitzia Stakes, while Coral Bay, bred on the same cross as Grecian Laurel, won the Listed Highlands Stud Kenilworth Fillies Nursery last time out and is a runner in Saturday’s Listed Irridescence Stakes this weekend.

Coral Bay is one of two Ideal World daughters set to contest the Irridescence Stakes, with impressive debut winner Helen’s Ideal also set to represent the sire.

Ideal World has seven yearlings on offer at next week’s KZN Yearling Sale, including a filly from the same family as Galileo and Sea The Stars (Lot 128), a full brother to Inverroche (Lot 252) and a half-sister to G2 The Debutante winner Winterinthewoods (Lot 254). The latter is bred on the same Ideal World/Fort Wood cross as Grecian Laurel and Coral Bay.
