More stakes success for Querari

27th May 2018

Maine Chance Farms’ popular stallion Querari was represented by his 12th stakes winner when son Desert Wisdom won the Listed Glenlair Trophy at Fairview on Friday.

A member of Querari’s second crop, Desert Wisdom dug down deep to record a half-length win in Friday’s Glenlair Trophy over 3200m, winning for trainer Jacques Strydom and rider Mathew Thackeray.
Bred by Peter de Beyer, Desert Wisdom has now won five and pushed his earnings to R343 950 with Friday’s feature race success.

Produced by the Kefaah mare Meaninful, Desert Wisdom is the fifth stakes horse to have emerged from Querari’s second crop, with other notable performers produced in that crop including G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon.

Querari continues to prove successful both commercially speaking and on the racetrack. His son Pinnacle Peak confirmed his status as a top-class sprinter when runner up in Saturday’s G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint over 1200m at Scottsville. Winner of this season’s G3 Man O’War Sprint, Pinnacle Peak had previously been runner up in the G1 Computaform Sprint and is clearly among the leaders of his sprinting generation.

A service to the G1 winning son of Oasis Dream topped last week’s Cape Breeders’ Club Stallion Services Auction when knocked down to Form Blooodstock for R120 000.

Querari, whose 3yos this season include the graded winners Monks Hood, Pinnacle Peak and Wonderwall, has nine lots on offer at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.
